WORLD BLOOD DONATION DAY
At 300 North our team members who are able to give blood do so on a regular basis. Today on World Blood Donor Day, we take the opportunity to thank them for their life saving donations and help to raise awareness around the importance of giving blood.
Giving blood saves lives and is vital to help people who need it in an emergency or for on-going medical treatment.
Nearly 5,000 people are needed to give blood every day to meet the needs of hospitals and patients.
Blood is needed all the time, even during a pandemic. An additional need to collect plasma has arisen during the COVID-19 crisis to help with essential research around the virus.

In addition, a new study which has been set up by the University of Cambridge, called the TRACK-COVID study is being used to investigate why some people have symptom of COVID-19 and others don’t.
According to the chief investigators “The aim of the research is to determine risk factors for infection of coronavirus (COVID-19). The secondary aim to investigate why some people who carry the virus are symptomatic while others never are. The research will provide a better understanding of the biological and environmental determinants of COVID-19 virus.”
