Role: School Caretaker
Location: Exeter
Salary: £25,000
Our client, a Facilities Management Provider, are looking for a School Caretaker to look after their sites in Exeter.
This is an exciting opportunity to work for a friendly and progressive, flexible organisation who are growing and have lots of secure career and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will oversee the internal and external school facilities to ensure they are secure, functional, compliant with Health & Safety standards, and well-maintained. This role is ideal for someone with caretaking or facilities management experience, ready to take on broader responsibilities in a school environment.
Key role responsibilities:
- Ensure the security and integrity of school facilities, including locking/unlocking, monitoring grounds, and overseeing third-party use.
- Conduct routine maintenance, such as litter picking, spot cleaning, and refreshing supplies, as well as planned preventative maintenance tasks.
- Respond to emergency situations and complete minor repairs, escalating issues to the helpdesk when necessary.
- Assist with room setups, parcel deliveries, and minor repairs or decoration tasks as needed.
- Coordinate with the Facilities Assistant and support contractors on-site for planned and reactive maintenance.
Skills Required:
- Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a school setting.
- General handyman skills, including basic plumbing, carpentry, or minor electrical work.
- Driving Licence preferred.
- Enhanced DBS required upon starting in the role.
